Improve the IELTS listening and speaking skills is a full training course for candidates in score bands 6.00-7.5 preparing for the International English Language Testing System's Listening and Speaking elements. If you learn by yourself, Enhance Your IELTS Listening and conversational skills is built to lead you through the exercises step by step. The book is totally self-contained: it includes a straightforward and easy guide, so you can quickly review the answers when you are going through the text. There are two CDs that provide all of the instructional material required for each unit's Listening and Speaking skills parts. If you are learning as part of a class, you will be instructed by your instructor on how to do each exercise. Some events, particularly in the segment on Topic Talk and Speaking Skills, offer the chance to speak and discuss the activity. 

It consists of 10 units based on concepts frequently found in the actual test. The test takes about 40 minutes to finish (which requires 10 minutes to pass the answers). There are a number of question forms including multiple-choice, matching, short answer questions, the fulfillment of sentences, completion of the form/table, labeling of a diagram/plan/map, information grouping, matching object, and summary. Up to a limit of 40 marks, you will get one point for every correct answer. Progressively the problems get tougher but all the marks have the same value. You have a single-to-one interview with an interviewer ranging between 11 and 14 minutes. 

Three parts are in. First, the interviewer asks questions about everyday subjects like families, interests, likes, and dislikes. Second, you talk about a subject provided by the interviewer for one to two minutes. Finally, you'll be taking part in a debate on more general topics specific to the talk topic. The interviewer assigns points in four headings: Fluency and coherence: continuous talking, without unnecessary pause, and objectively organizing your thoughts and speech. Lexical resource: Use a variety of subject-specific vocabulary. Grammatical selection and precision: with a fair degree of consistency, using a variety of grammar rules and more complex ones. Pronunciation: to talk in such a way that the interviewer can understand you.
