Each applicant takes four IELTS test modules, one in each of the four abilities to listen, read, write and speak. All candidates have the same Modules in Listening and Speaking. The Reading and Writing Modules provide an option between Academic and General Instruction. 

Listening is divided into four areas which is usually in the same order. Each A portion is heard ONCE. During the exam, you'll be given time to read the questions, write down, and check your responses. At the completion of the exam, ten minutes are required for you to pass the answers from the question paper to an answer sheet (roughly 30 minutes listening to 40 questions). 

The Reading Module includes three reading sections, with a number of 2,000 to 2,750 words (Academic), or 2,000 to 2,500 words (General Training). During the exam, all the answers must be written on an answer sheet. It is not given any extra time to pass answers (Reading 40 questions 60 minutes). Writing 2 tasks is 60 minutes, and the Speaking task is between 11–14 minutes, consisting of an oral interview with you and an interviewer.
